Hello - I'm looking for a reference to a quilt pattern. All I have is Farm Journal 1938 - the pattern or article may be called Road to the White House. Can someone please clarify what month the pattern may have appeared in? I'd love to read the article.

Hi Kyra, <Can someone please clarify what month the pattern may have appeared in?> The pattern "Road to the White House" in the January 1938 edition of the Farm Journal. "The "Road to the White House" quilt block was 70 years old in 2008. It was designed and named by the Farm Journal in January 1938." Image available here: Stichon http://stitchon.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=223 "Three quilt block designs: "White House Rose," from Needlecraft magazine, February 1934; "Road to the White House" from Farm Journal, January 1938; and "White House Steps," published by both the Ladies Art Company (No. 221), and the Old Chelsea Needlecraft Service in the 1930s, all demonstrate the symbolic importance of the White House to the American people." Quilter Muse http://www.quiltersmuse.com/political_quilt_blocks.htm From Quilt this: "This quilt pattern is based on the Road to the White House block which was designed and named by the Farm Journal in 1938." http://www.quilt-this.com/cgi-bin/Store/store.cgi?cart_id=3890290.22008.s0&product=Patterns_Main&productid=CT_600_RTTWH&sales=0&lastmenu= >I'd love to read the article.< A copy of the Farm Journal from January 1938 was auctioned off on eBay on September 1, 2009 for $5.00.(check back often as a copy may be listed) http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310164273094 AbesBooks currently has a copy of the February 1938 Farm Journal. I know it's of no use to you but you can check back very couple of weeks and see if the January issue becomes available. http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=606064807&searchurl=sts%3Dt%26tn%3Dfarm%2Bjournal%2B1938%26x%3D0%26y%3D0 I haven't been able to locate another copy. Perhaps your local library has a copy or can obtain one for you through an interlibrary loan. I hope this helps! Best regards, Bobbie7
