hi,
what is the piece called that makes the mobile ring? i am talking about a
thing that can work isolated, so that it just rings when you call the
number? it does not need to do anything else but ring, when it is called
and of course needs to have a possibility to be charged. have you got any
links, preferably, where it can be bought?
thanks!!

Hi walbur,

Can you please explain in more detail what is you are looking for. Do you
want the piece that makes the mobile ring? How can it be isolated if it
needs a number to make it ring? Have you seen anything like this and if so,
what does it look like. Any more details that you can provide would help.
Thanks.

i just wonder, how much technique you need to make something ring by call,
which is no mobile. that means just those pieces needed to receive a call
and the "bell" and forget about the text/talk etc electronic things. havent
seen it, but there must be certain things be responsible for it within a
mobile? do you see what i mean?
thanks in advance!!

Uclue Researcher Request for clarification by Researcher Roger Browne (eiffel) on Mon 21 Dec 2009 - 10:02 pm UTC:

Hi walbur,

A device to ring when a mobile phone number is called would require most of
the components of a cellphone, including SIM card, battery, processor,
software, antenna, speaker etc. In other words, maybe 80% of the components
of a cellphone. Because of the economies of scale, it would be cheaper just
to buy a cheap cellphone and use it as a ringer, if that's what you need.

Regards,
eiffel

Maybe I have been reading too much about home-made bombs in Afghanistan
...

There are some quite small cell phones:

And if you can eliminate the case and keys ,,,?

Perhaps if you could explain your purpose a bit, we could suggest an
alternative solution.
