Desparate elderly computer user needs help fast to instal HL2140 Program instals from disc then stalls. Nothing happens when I hit "print" in TextEdit or anything else. Printer brand new at Xmas. Subbed for great HL 2040 which jammed paper and went out for cleaning. (Please don't tell me to replace it back. I need to get up and running now.) No tech speak please. Layman's language. Version is 10 4 11 Thanks Mister Q

Mister Q, It's a real challenge to diagnose computer problems without using a hands-on approach, but hopefully we can help. First thing, though. Have you turned everything off (printer and computer) and then back on. Total shut down and restart. That's a good first step to try. Let us know if it helps. David

Hello misterq, I find that **some** printers require they be connected, usually via USB, BEFORE you install the software. Then again, **some** require you definitely do not until you are asked to connect the printer. Can you check your instructions to see if you followed this part of the installation process? It could be just that simple. Please let us know. -=clouseau=-

I have limited ability not to speak tech/geek all the time, so please excuse me for being brief. Have you tried downloading the drivers for Mac and installing from the download? http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/as/as_ot/en/dlf/dlf/000000/003100/dlf003196.html?reg=as&dlid=dlf003196&dispforlist=1&os=26&type2=1&prod=hl2140_all&c=as_ot&lang=en&flang=4 Best of luck! Thank you all for your interest. I was able to solve the problem myself ... which astonished me. Fault is with Brother's instructions being ambiguous. I'll have a similar problem to post shortly. Thank you all for your courtesies.
