I'd like to know how much adult magazines were in circulation before the
Internet. Documented reference to the number of magazines in 1990 would be
best, but any year between 1980 and 1995 would also be acceptable.

If you can supply a break-down of the number of gay vs. straight magazines,
then I'll award a $5 bonus.

I'm looking for a documented reference on the total number of regulaly
published magazines, not an unsystematic list. For example, Wikipedia has a
seemingly unsystematic list of adult magazines here:

But I would need some additional reference that says, "Yes, that's a
complete list on Wikipedia that comprehensively covers all the regularly
published adult magazines after 1980" for the Wikipedia list to be useful.
