Maybe not many people but I am confident that M*o*r*n will and that he will also recall my Question #750627 dated 29 July 2006 which was answered by Pafalafa-GA. (I wonder whatever happened to him or her?) Anyway, I wondered if anyone could now amplify on the information then provided? I shall now reveal that my interest in Donald Beattie Calder was prompted by my real (non-romantic) interest in his wife whom he married in London in January 1946 when he was 34. Mrs Calder, who was born in Austria in 1911, was initially called Fredericka (spellings vary) but was usually known as Friedl. It would be nice to know if they had any kids; if she's still around; and a photograph of her would be truly amazing. So, once again, please Amaze Me! Many thanks Probo

I now wonder if her naturalization was granted? And why she didn't immediately assume American nationality on her marriage? Bryan

probo, I've found just the barest of mentions: Washington Times September 15, 1997 Deaths Calder, Friedericke, Washington, Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home I'm still looking for more information, and for the fate of almost-forgotten pafalafaga. I'll let you know if anything more turns up. David

Many thanks, David That is very promising. Looking forward! Bryan

Great, Freddy, many thanks. I was very surprised that the Chef was also invited to dine with the guests but I guess that's the way it goes in Belgium. Here in the UK, we may invite the Chef to put in an appearance after the meal to pay him compliements - but only if the meal was exceptional. Bryan

You're not going to believe this, but there is a listing, right here in Washington DC, for a 98-year old, Donald B Calder. This is your man, I'm pretty sure of it. I found no notice of his passing. David
Question clarification by probo on Mon 8 Feb 2010 - 6:58 pm UTC:
David I believe you! Obviously, you cannot post details here but would you mind sending them to me via my website: http://www.statesecrets.co.uk/ Also, if convenient, could you possibly call on him? I would love to have a photo of his late wife, ideally taken during WWII or just afterwards. Also, did they have any kids? I wonder if he knew what she got up to before and during WWII as an MI5 agent. I would be willing to share. Please see what you can do. All the Best Bryan

I am confident that David will soon be able to answer this ... So would other Researchers please give him your usual consideration. Many thanks. Bryan
Comment by Researcher admin on Mon 8 Feb 2010 - 10:37 pm UTC:
Bryan, Uclue doesn't supply private details of living individuals, even by posting them elsewhere (unless of course David obtains Mr Calder's permission). If the contact details are from a legitimate public source, David can certainly direct you to that source.
Answer by Researcher davidsarokin on Tue 9 Feb 2010 - 2:25 am UTC:
Bryan, Glad to hear we're finding some useful information for you. Per the admin's comment, let me suggest that you search on Intelius* for Donald Calder's name in Washington DC. You'll find information on Mr. Calder and the Mrs., as well as contact information for their son. Let me know if there's anything more needed on this one, and best of luck with your work going forward. David *see comment from admin further down the page

"However, I still don't know what happened to Pafalafa-GA."
A few months before GA was closed, s/he was accused by Google that his/her
user name was inspiring too many to use names like asdfasdf and fdasas.
This was revealed to me at a clandestine meeting with an "old bird" in a
restuarant somewhere south of SF Bay. The meeting with Probo was also
clandestine ("table #x in TNA") - at least from my wife for a while - but
after that call yesterday, and my slip of tongue, saying he was twenty-one
instead of seventy-one (also wrong, but he could still easily pass), she
wants a photo. (But DON'T send me one of one of your daughters unless you
are included!)
(Pssst! Friedl's name is misspelled on your website.)
Cheers; *y*a*i*

Many thanks, *y*a*i* (whoever you are) Photo is in the mail. Thanks also for pointing out the spelling mistake on my website. That's the last time that I shall ask Kemlo to do any web development work for me. Cheers B*y*n

Send a photo to Carmen, too. David has a website where you can send an email to a poster (posteress, posterette?).

Regarding Intelius, mentioned in David's answer, the following page may be of interest to anyone considering providing their credit card details: "Intelius Scam" http://intelius.pissedconsumer.com/intelius-scam-20080922136435.html
Comment by Researcher davidsarokin on Thu 11 Feb 2010 - 1:54 pm UTC:
Thanks for the caution about Intelius. I have used them many times, and find them to be, hands-down, the best source of "people search" information available. However, they DO have a number of "special offers" that they promote quite aggressively. I always just pass these by, but apparently, many people click on them without realizing they are separate transactions, and this has resulted in a fair number of complaints. Hopefully, the company will tone down it's auxiliary offerings, because its main function of people-searching is really the best in the biz. David
Comment by probo on Thu 11 Feb 2010 - 3:32 pm UTC:
The offer that Intelius made me was a 'Free Trial' for 7 days with the promise that I would not be charged if I cancelled within the Trial Period. Their Order Confirmation also confirmed the Free Trial. However, after a few minutes trial, I decided to cancel but the methodology was not well signposted. A Google Search for "Intelius scam" brought up over 20,000 Hits, so I then contacted my Credit Card company who told me that I had already been charged $19.95 for the supposedly 'free' trial! Fortunately, the Credit Card company quickly arranged a reversal of the charge. Decidedly tricky and certainly not recommended. Bryan
Comment by Researcher byrd on Thu 11 Feb 2010 - 3:38 pm UTC:
Your mileage may vary but I don't like Intelius. I have twice paid for information from them, only to discover that it was very out of date, more than a year old, just like other paid services I've tried. I'm able to find more up to date and useful information on my own without their so-called "help." I don't use them.

That's all right, Myo, you are still on my sweetheart list.

Success! I've just heard from the son of the people in question and he's going to send me a photograph of his mother. Once again, Uclue has amazed me. Very many thanks. David, I now wonder if your skills are only honed to digging into the past or whether or not you can also predict the future? I believe that the Euro Lottery pays out in a big way and, assuming that M*****n is prepared to back us, we should do OK. Bryan
Comment by User myoarin on Mon 12 Apr 2010 - 9:15 am UTC:
Nah! I don't even put my money were my own mouth is, although I have a fantastic record at predicting UK football results.
