I haven't looked into your list in detail, but from a preliminary screen, my guess would be you'd be lucky to get 2 or 3 items on your list in terms of stats that are regularly updated.

For example, there's an RSS feed for the day's most popular movie:

but I just don't think there are many offerings like this that match the list you're looking for.

If I am correct in that, can you suggest a way for a researcher to proceed on this question?

The problem with the question is that most of them will not have an up to the minute data since they are usually done through surveys or studies. While popularity could be counted but it will only be limited to those people who visit the website doing the ranking.

Would best efforts on the most recent data or at least the fastest updating ones be ok with you? of course it is highly possible not all those on the list will have such data available.

Sorry for my lag, guys.  David, the boxofficemojo example is exactly what I am seeking; however, in answer to easterangel's question, best efforts on finding the most recent data/fastest-updating data would be great.

Dear prpro:

Here is the information that can help you proceed. Please note that I have tried my best to locate whatever current information is there. Out of 17 categories, the link contains 14 categories that are continuously updated (duration of updates differ).

For 14 & 16, I couldn’t find a source, which will regularly update the counts of magazines and newspapers. I have also explained why it may not be possible. Anyway, I have provided links to the latest numbers by authoritative sources. As for category number 17, it took the most time without any definite result. Still, there is a link to the information that may help.

What I found hard to digest is that few websites provide RSS Feeds for such statistics. Although nearly each of these has other sharing tools. Therefore, I will highly recommend you to try Yahoo Pipe http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/. This tool will help extract the required information from my links, and crate RSS Feeds. I understand that it may take some time but this tool is relatively very simple for such a complex task.

Please don’t disregard relevant links as all of these have very specific information that you can use.

Under the circumstances (few RSS feeds), this looks like a very complete list; thank you!  I think this is just I need!
